La Llorona
(The Weeping Woman)
La Llorona is the character I chose for my “Monster Sculpt” assignment because, even among supernatural creatures, human monsters, to me, are some of the most haunting.
La Llorona is a Mexican legend of a weeping woman. At night, she can be heard crying for her lost children. The story of human actions making someone into a literal monster is fascinating to me, as are the multiple versions of the legend that stir up both fear and sympathy.
